Mill Dam and Bridge

The site for the Mill Creek dam was selected historically because it was possible to anchor the dam into bedrock on either side of the stream. The foundation logs were still visible in 1982 when the work began on its reconstruction, 200 years after it was built.

The dam’s reconstruction is based upon archaeological evidence, and similar, surviving dams in other places. It is built of interlocking logs filled with rocks, and it has a facing of boards.
